La Ruana is one of the regions of greatest conflict between drug cartels in Michoacán and in which the Los Viagras criminal group has a strong presence.
Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) managed to secure a historic shipment of methamphetamine that was ready to be sent to the United States from the community of La Ruana, in the municipality of Buenavista Tomatlán, Michoacán.
Agents from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena and National Guard) also participated in the operation, who completed a search warrant in the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto (also known as La Ruana), achieving the seizure of more than 600 kilos of methamphetamine. , a drug popularly known as crystal.
The Michoacán Prosecutor’s Office arrived at a mechanical workshop where they discovered and seized two vehicles with methamphetamine inside.
As explained in a statement, the drugs were found in a false bottom hidden in the box of a trailer. When inspecting its contents, the agents discovered 305 wooden boxes wrapped in transparent plastic and inside which there was a granulated and crystalline substance with the characteristics of methamphetamine and which, when weighed, revealed a total of 610 kilograms.
