‘Tony Montana’ or ‘Tony Tormenta’ must be handed over to the US authorities to be tried in Washington on charges of conspiracy to import cocaine and methamphetamines.

The control judge of the Federal Criminal Justice Center of the Oriente Prison, Beatriz Moguel Ancheyta, determined that it is appropriate to extradite Antonio Oseguera Cervantes to the United States.

The convicted criminal known as “Tony Montana”, brother of Rubén or Nemesio Oseguera, “El Mencho”, the alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) will be extradited to the US.

The judge considered that there is no doubt that the identity of the person sought corresponds to the detainee, in addition to the fact that the United States request for surrender complies with the Extradition Law and the Bilateral Treaty on the matter.

According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), “Tony Tormenta” must be handed over to the American Justice System to be tried in the Federal Court of the District of Columbia, in Washington, on charges of conspiracy to import cocaine and methamphetamines and possession of a firearm.

Moguel Ancheyta sent her legal opinion to the SRE so that, within a maximum period of 20 days, it can decide whether she grants or denies the requested extradition.

The litigation still has a long period left, because the defense strategy of the accused who will oppose the extradition is still missing, and also for the SRE to issue its resolution and order the extradition, Oseguera Cervantes.
