A river in Michoacán and another in Colima have overflowed, causing considerable damage to the population, with water levels exceeding one meter in some areas.
The heavy rains that have hit various regions of the country in recent days caused the overflow of two rivers, one in Michoacán and another in the capital of Colima, resulting in significant damage. In a community in Tiquicheo, the water level surpassed one meter.
In Colima, yesterday’s rains caused the Colima River to overflow, affecting several houses and leaving vehicles trapped underwater.
The State Civil Protection Unit (UEPC) of the Government of Colima reported that inspections are being carried out in the most affected areas, such as the 20 de Noviembre neighborhood.
Reports also indicate that the rains in Colima caused a fallen tree, a house fire due to a gas leak, a motorcycle accident, and at least five damaged vehicles.
Civil Protection brigades and authorities in Colima have urged the population to take extreme precautions during and after the rains and to seek shelter in safe places.
Rains Leave Tiquicheo, Michoacán Underwater
In Michoacán, heavy rains also caused the Tiquicheo River to overflow, flooding several homes, especially in the Piedra China community.
The water level exceeded one meter in some affected areas, forcing many residents to leave their homes. Local media report that several elderly people are among the affected.
Additionally, a landslide caused by the rains blocked the road leading to Tiquicheo. Authorities are working to remove the debris and clear the road.
